If you haven’t seen the new Nike VR_S Covert drivers — you were in a coma, maybe? Or on a Carnival cruise? — you’ve been missing maybe the coolest, craziest driver ever made by a mainstream manufacturer.

Now, thanks to Golf Galaxy, you can see it up-close and personal, and try it for yourself. You’ll even get a sleeve of Nike balls for free, just for trying it.

The new Nike VR_S Covert driver features a cavity back and "FlexLoft" technology for customization.

The superstore Golf Galaxy is teaming up with Nike to bring golfers across the country the Nike Covert Distance Challenge. Every weekend (Friday through Sunday) in March, Nike gurus will be in-store to deliver club fittings. Just bring in your current driver to test against the new Nike VR_S Covert Tour, and you’ll get a free sleeve of Nike 20XI golf balls. And if you buy the Nike VR_S Covert, you’ll get trial packs of the 20XI, 20XI-X, and RZN X balls (1 dozen total).

Since it was released in February, the Covert driver has been anything but covert. It’s in the bag of the world’s No. 1 player, Rory McIlroy, among other Tour stars. (Tiger Woods hasn’t made the switch just yet, and is keeping his Nike VR Tour 8.5-degree for now.)

The VR_S Covert offers “FlexLoft” adjustability and unique high-speed cavity back technology — all backed by the one-on-one support of a Nike fitting guru. With a completely unique look and enough fitting options for your unique swing, it’s no secret the VR_S Covert is one seriously sweet club.

And the Covert Challenge is a seriously sweet deal, too. To find the Golf Galaxy superstore nearest you, click here. There are five locations in the Chicago area alone.

PS — If you haven’t seen the commercials, you should take a look.
